THE TOUR

Three screens carry the term

Marking is a list of names and a single score sheet. A student page shows the weighted breakdown inline — the number and the reason for it, before a parent meeting. Events keep the month’s exams, trips and meetings in the same place as the marking.

MARKING

One student, one score, one sheet — tap a row and the pad opens on that name, so nothing below shifts under your next tap. The footer counts what's left.

STUDENT

The grade and the arithmetic behind it, on one screen: category, weight, score, and the weighted total a parent will ask about.

EVENTS

A month at a glance, dotted in each class's colour. Pick a day for its agenda; everything else in the month stays listed underneath, so nothing hides behind a tap.

WHAT'S IN IT

Built around how a term actually runs

TODAY
The marks you still owe, first

One screen: every ungraded assessment with its completion count, then your classes on a time gutter with a NOW line. Each row opens straight into marking.

WEIGHTING
Weighted categories, shown

Set category weights once per class. Every grade carries its own breakdown — category, weight, score, weighted total — so you can answer "why that number".

SCALES
Percent, letter, GPA

Grade scales per level: percentage bands, letter grades, descriptive marks for elementary, and a 4.0 GPA with credit units for college courses.

LEVELS
Set up for the level you teach

Pick elementary, high school or college once. Your terms, grading scheme and grading scale start from that level — quarters for elementary and high school, semesters for college.

OFFLINE
No signal required

The gradebook is a local database on your device. Marking works on a bus, in a basement lab, and during an outage — saves are immediate, not queued.

REPORTS
Printable grade reports

Class, section and per-student reports render as printable documents you can hand to a head of department or save as a PDF.

BACKUP
Encrypted backups you hold

Back up the whole gradebook to an encrypted file from Settings, keep it wherever you keep important files, and restore it when you need to. Nothing syncs behind your back.

SETTING UP

Three answers and you're marking

1
Pick your level

Elementary sets up quarters with descriptive marks, high school quarters with percentages, college semesters with a 4.0 GPA and credit units. It decides the defaults, not the ceiling — and it is the level your plan is priced at.

2
Confirm the school year

Start and end dates, then the terms and grading periods inside them. Gradely builds the term set; you adjust the dates it guessed.

3
Add your first class

Subject, section, meeting days, room. Add students, set your weighted categories once, and the Today screen starts telling you what's outstanding.

PRICING

A SMALL PRICE, ON PURPOSE

It pays for the servers and email that keep sign-in, password resets and your backup key working, and helps keep Gradely going. Your gradebook never leaves your phone, so it costs us nothing to hold.

BILLED BY THE STORE

You pay through Google Play or the App Store, so no card details ever reach Gradely. Cancel any time in your store account and keep your plan until the date you have paid up to.

PRIVACY

Student data does not leave the phone

Gradely holds names, scores and rosters — which is exactly why it holds them locally. There is no Gradely server for your gradebook, no analytics SDK, and nothing to opt out of.

ON DEVICE
It lives on this device only

Student names, guardian contacts, sections, classes, assessments and scores stay in the app’s own storage on your phone. There is no server copy of your gradebook.

NO TRACKING
Nothing is collected automatically

Only what you type yourself. No analytics, no tracking and no advertising is built into the app. If you subscribe, the store and its purchase service see a purchase against an anonymous account id — never your students.

YOU DECIDE
Data leaves only when you send it

Printing a report card, exporting grades or making a backup are the only ways anything goes anywhere, and each is something you start.

THE TRADE-OFF
No cloud means no safety net

Reset, lose or wipe the phone without a backup and the records cannot be recovered. Backups are encrypted — make them regularly and keep a copy somewhere safe.

Privacy policy
LAST UPDATED 19/09/2026 · VERSION 0.1.0
What this app stores

Whatever you enter yourself — student names, guardian contacts, sections, classes, assessments, and scores. Nothing is collected automatically, and there is no analytics or tracking built into the app. Separately, your teacher account holds the email address you sign in with, so that you can sign back in and keep your plan; your gradebook never passes through it.

Purchases

Subscriptions are bought and billed by Google Play or the App Store, so you never type a card number into Gradely and we never see one. To match a purchase to your plan, the store and RevenueCat — the service that handles purchases for us — receive an anonymous account id and the purchase itself. They do not receive your name, your email or anything about your students.

Where it lives

On your device only. The gradebook is a local database in the app’s private storage, and backups you create are written as files on that same device. There is no server copy of your data and no cloud sync.

When data leaves the device

Only when you make it happen — printing a report card, exporting grades, or creating a backup. The app never sends anything anywhere on its own.

The risk of local-only storage

Because everything lives on this device, formatting your phone, resetting it, or losing it without a backup means this data cannot be recovered. There is no cloud copy to restore from. Back up regularly from Settings if that matters to you. Backups are encrypted before they leave the device; the data on the device itself relies on your device’s own lock and encryption.

Deleting data

You control deletion directly — removing a student, class, term, or clearing all app data all happen on this device, immediately, and cannot be undone once confirmed. Deleting the app removes the database and its backups with it.

Photos and the camera

If you set a profile photo for yourself or a student, the app asks for photo library or camera access at that moment. The image is stored with the record on your device and is used for nothing else. Decline the permission and every other part of the app still works.

Children’s data

Gradely is for teachers, not for students. Children do not have accounts and cannot sign in. Records a teacher keeps about a minor stay on the teacher’s own device under the teacher’s and their school’s record-keeping obligations; we never receive them.

Changes

This policy may change as the app changes. If a future version adds optional cloud sync or backup, it will be opt-in, it will say so before it is switched on, and this page will carry a new date before that release ships.

FAQ

Questions teachers ask first

Where is my data stored?

Entirely on this device. There is no cloud account and no server copy — nothing leaves your phone unless you export or back it up yourself.

What happens if I reset or lose my phone?

Without a backup, everything is gone for good. Once a device is wiped or replaced, there’s no way to recover what was on it.

How do I protect against losing my data?

Use Backup and Restore in Settings regularly, then download the backup file and keep a copy somewhere safe, like Google Drive or your computer.

Can I use the app on more than one device?

Not yet. Each device keeps its own separate copy and they don’t sync with each other.

Is my data encrypted?

Backups are encrypted before they leave the device. Data stored on the device itself relies on your device’s own lock and encryption.

Does anyone else see my students’ information?

No. Nothing is sent anywhere by the app. It only leaves the device when you choose to print, export, or share it yourself.

Does it work without internet?

Yes. The gradebook is local, so marking, adding classes, viewing grades and printing reports all work offline. Only signing in, and buying or restoring a plan, need a connection.

Which level should I pick?

The one you teach. You choose it once when you set up, and it decides your term calendar and starting grading scheme and scale — quarters and descriptive marks for elementary, quarters and percentages for high school, semesters with credit units and a 4.0 GPA for college. Your plan is priced at that level.

How are grades calculated?

By weighted categories inside a grading period. You set the categories and their weights per class; each score contributes to its category average, and the categories combine by weight into the class grade. A student’s page opens to show that arithmetic line by line.

Can students or parents log in and see grades?

No. Gradely is a teacher-only app with no student or parent accounts. Message guardian opens your own messaging app with the contact you saved — you choose what to send.

What does the free plan include?

1 class, 5 students, 1 assessment and 1 event — enough to try it properly, with no time limit.

What do the plans cost, and what is the difference?

Elementary is $1.49 a month, High School $2.49 and College $3.49. Every plan has every feature, unlimited classes and unlimited students — the price only reflects the level you teach. You pick the plan that matches your level; nothing is held back at a lower price.

Why is it so cheap?

Because the aim is to help teachers, not to squeeze them. The subscription pays for the servers and email that keep sign-in, password resets and your backup key working, and helps keep Gradely going. Your gradebook itself costs us nothing to hold, because it never leaves your phone.

How do I pay, and how do I cancel?

Payment goes through Google Play or the App Store, so no card details ever reach Gradely. To cancel, open your store account, go to Subscriptions and cancel Gradely. You keep your plan until the date you have paid up to, then your account goes back to Free — nothing on your phone is deleted.

I changed phones. Do I lose my plan?

No. Your plan belongs to your Gradely account. Sign in on the new phone and your plan comes with you; if it does not show, tap Restore purchases in Settings > Subscription. Your gradebook is a separate matter: restore it from a backup file.
