Terms
The rules, in plain words.
Gradely is a gradebook that lives on your phone, with a free plan and one small paid plan, the same price for every level.
In short
- Gradely is for teachers and instructors.
- Paid plans are billed by Google Play or the App Store — cancel any time there.
- Your data is yours, and so are your backups.
- Use it fairly: no misuse, no getting around the limits.
Agreeing to these terms
By creating an account or using Gradely you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. They are written to be read, not skimmed past — if anything is unclear, ask us at the address at the bottom.
What Gradely is
Gradely is a gradebook app for teachers. Your classes, students, marks and notes are kept in a database on your own device. We also run a small account service, which holds the email you sign in with, your name and education level, the plan you are on, and the key that encrypts your backups. It never holds your gradebook.
Who it is for
Gradely is for teachers and instructors, not for students or parents, and there are no student or parent accounts. You must be old enough to make a binding agreement where you live, and you must be allowed by your school to keep the records you keep in the app.
Your account
Give us an email address that is really yours and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account. You can delete it at any time from Settings; that is permanent, and it destroys the key your backups are encrypted with. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription, so cancel that in your store account first if you do not want to be charged again.
Plans and payment
The free plan has no time limit and holds 1 class, 5 students, 1 assessment and 1 event, and does not include the exam maker. Paid plans lift every limit and have every feature, including the exam maker; the plan is currently $1.99 a month, the same for every level. You choose the one that matches the level you teach. Prices in your currency, and any tax, are shown by the store before you buy.
Billing, renewal and cancelling
Subscriptions are bought through Google Play or the App Store, which take the payment, issue the receipt and handle refunds under their own rules — we never see your card. A plan renews every month until you cancel it in your store account (Subscriptions). When you cancel, you keep the plan until the date you have paid up to, then your account returns to Free. Nothing on your phone is deleted. If we change a price, it applies from your next renewal and the store will tell you first.
Your gradebook is your responsibility
Because your gradebook lives only on your device, we cannot see it, recover it or restore it. If you reset, lose or wipe your phone without a backup, it is gone. Use Backup and restore in Settings regularly and keep the file somewhere safe. You are also responsible for following your school’s rules and the law about student records, including who you share a printed or exported report with.
Using Gradely properly
Do not use Gradely for anything unlawful, try to get into another person’s account, work around the limits of the free plan, or interfere with the service. Do not copy, resell or reverse-engineer the app except where the law lets you.
What belongs to whom
Your data is yours. We claim no rights in it and never receive it. The app itself — its code, design, name and logo — belongs to us, and we give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use it for your own teaching for as long as you follow these terms.
Availability and changes
The gradebook works offline. Signing in, password resets, buying or restoring a plan and reading your backup key need a connection to our service, and we cannot promise it will always be available. We may improve, change or remove features, and will give reasonable notice of a change that takes something away from a paid plan.
Ending your use
You can stop using Gradely at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other people at risk, and will say why unless the law stops us.
No warranty, and our limits
Gradely is provided as it is. We work hard to make grades calculate correctly, but you should check anything important before you rely on it. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost data where no backup was made, for indirect or consequential loss, or for problems caused by your device, the stores or your connection. Nothing in these terms limits a right or liability that the law does not let us limit.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, this page will carry a new date before the change takes effect, and the app will point to it. Continuing to use Gradely after that means you accept the new terms.
